Snow Park NZ hosts some of NZ’s biggest and best ski and snowboard events in the Southern Hemisphere, including the Burton NZ Open, Billabong Slopestyle Jam and NZ Freeski Open to name a few.
Spectating at Snow Park is made easy with great views of the entire park from the base area and Woolshed Restaurant, as well as easy access to the superpipe and slopestyle course for on hill viewing.

Snow Park NZ has broadened its appeal with the introduction of a dedicated novice terrain park to ease riders into the freestyle world of snowboarding and skiing.
The Half Pint Park includes the same features as the main park but on a smaller scale and on less steep terrain, offering new riders the chance to learn in a fun and relaxed environment.
The park includes an assortment of simple but fun features designed to boost riders’ confidence. The new Half Pint Park has a selection of boxes and rails in a variety of configurations as well as jumps ranging in size, from mini jumps just off the ground up to 25ft.
Snow Park NZ Manager Sam said the idea of ‘Half Pint Park’ was to create a more comfortable learning arena for new riders. “By providing a less daunting playground we are hoping to attract a broader mix of visitors to the Snow Park in addition to our traditional customers. We already have an excellent international reputation for having exciting and innovative terrain and now it’s time to turn our attention to the growth of the sport. Half Pint Park will appeal to first-time park riders just starting out on skis or boards as well as proficient riders looking to learn new skills. From here they can then progress to the main features of Snow Park.”
The new park has been designed by terrain park guru and ex-pro snowboarder Frank Wells. As a member of the Snow Park Technology consulting team, Frank designs and creates terrain for events such as the Winter X-Games and Van's Triple Crown in the USA. During the New Zealand winter, Frank works and designs exclusively at Snow Park NZ and manages the team of world-class groomer operators at the park.

Superpipes/Quarterpipe
The cynosure of the park….the pearly white glow….the SUPERPIPE. Snow Park NZ actually has two superpipes, each designed and cut to perfection by resident pipe guru Frank Wells.
- The main superpipe is 525 feet long at 17 degrees pitch
- The beginner superpipe is 300 feet long at 15 degrees pitch
- The Quarterpipe provides endless hours of fun and is suitable for all levels
Jumps
Snow Park offers up an ever changing landscape of jumps and hits throughout the season. However, the mainstays on the scene are the jumps in the infamous triple line which range from 35-40-50 ft to 45-55-65 ft over the season.
Also scattered around the park are a selection of intermediate jumps (25-30-35 ft) as well as those in the Progressions Park.

| Snow park nz ... the history: |
Snow Park NZ is located on the Lee family high country farm which has been in the family for 87 years.
It opened to the public only four years ago as the first dedicated freestyle terrain park in the world. Looking at it now, it is hard to believe it started out with a handful of temporary shed-like buildings, a coffee machine and a pie warmer. However, the park has always had a special charm, and what it initially lacked in facilities it made up with vibe, culture and some of the most progressive terrain ever seen.
It hasn’t been easy, that’s for sure. A lack of natural snow thwarted the opening in 2002, best-laid plans went awry and our snow making equipment arrived late and we didn’t open in 2002. Season pass holders had the option of a refund or a 2003 seasons pass, helping to rebuild our confidence many opted for a 2003 seasons pass. It meant that 2003 was make or break, and Snow Park made it, succeeding in creating a park that didn’t just stoke out the locals but international visitors as well.
